Bill O’Reilly Tells Trump His Campaign Needs an Injection of ‘Charm’: ‘It Vanished’

Bill O’Reilly is recommending former President Donald Trump “inject some charm” into his campaign, which the commentator argued has been missing since the Republican National Convention.

O’Reilly has been critical of Trump’s campaign in recent weeks, saying it lacks “discipline” and offering less-than-stellar reviews of Trump’s public talks like the Q and A he gave at a National Association of Black Journalists convention. The former Fox News host offered some advice to Trump on how to turn his campaign around.

According to O’Reilly, Trump needs to bring out some of his old school charm, which the commentator argued “vanished” shortly after the assassination attempt against the former president.

“The way to attack the anti-Trump thing is to inject some charm into your campaign, which the former president has not done. Right after he was shot and in the first 20 minutes of the Republican Convention speech, he did, but then it vanished,” he said.

O’Reilly called Trump “funny” and argued he needs to bring some of his charisma back to his campaign.

“I’ve been with Trump enough over the 32 year period of our friendship or acquaintanceship, however you want to define it, the guy’s funny, the guy can be very charming, he knows how to do that,” he said.

An injection of charm, O’Reilly added, will “tamp down that hate Trump vote.”

O’Reilly argued Trump has a natural charisma unlike many politicians and took a dig at Jimmy Carter to provide a contrast.

“It’s not like Jimmy Carter where Jimmy Carter was all front, big smile and all that, but boy he was not comfortable with people,” he said. “Trump can walk into a room — I’ve seen him do it a hundred times. He’s got to take a little bit of that and use it on the campaign trail.”
