Disgraced ex-Rep. George Santos (R-NY) pleaded guilty on Monday to two of the nearly two dozen felony counts he was charged with back in May and October of 2023.

Santos pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft as part of what is reportedly a plea deal. According to CBS News, “A judge has said the plea deal may come with an estimated sentencing range between 6-8 years. He’s set for sentencing Feb. 7 at federal court in Central Islip.”

Santos will have to repay at least $373,000 after having admitted in court to using a credit card under someone else’s name and lying to the Federal Election Commission. Santos, who lied about his education and employment before winning a House seat, was embraced in the GOP by the likes of Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL), while others like Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) publicly condemned and told him that if he “had any shame” he wouldn’t stay in Congress.

Last November, the House Ethics Committee released a devastating report that led to Santos’s expulsion from Congress. The report unveiled a “complex web of unlawful activity” that included misusing donor funds for Botox and OnlyFans. Santos became the sixth House member ever to be removed from their seat last December, in a bipartisan vote.
