President Joe Biden had a sharp retort when CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked him about former President Donald Trump’s claim he was pushed out of the race in a “coup.”

Collins was at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois where the Democratic National Convention will kick off Monday evening as First Lady Jill Biden and the president did a walkthrough before their speeches in a few hours.

When it was Biden’s turn to test out the lectern — being taller than his wife, the microphone height was too low — reporters shouted questions at him.

“President Biden, how are you feeling?” various reporters called out. “Mr. President, is this a bittersweet moment for you at all?”

“It’s a memorable moment,” he replied.

“Mr. President, are you ready to pass the torch, sir?” another reporter asked.

    “I am,” Biden said.

Collins got in a question about Trump’s repeated claims that Biden was knocked out of the presidential race in a “ coup .”

“Donald Trump claims that you were pushed out from the top of the ticket, and this amounts to a coup from your party,” said Collins. “What do you make of those claims?”

Biden smiled and replied, “his stability is still questionable.”

Monday would be the only day of the convention where Biden would make an appearance, Collins reported, noting that in 1968 when then-President Lyndon B. Johnson decided not to run for re-election, he did not attend the DNC at all that year.
