Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer posted a bizarre video of Maryland Gov. Wes Moore talking to a doll on Monday at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“Just two friends talking about how to end child poverty. No big deal,” wrote Whitmer in a post , alongside a video of Moore speaking to a miniature doll bearing her likeness at a bar.

In the video, Moore could be seen sitting next to the Barbie doll, which Whitmer has previously used in social media posts, and saying, “Alright, so Little Gretch, I know we are here in a bar in Chicago, but I gotta talk to you about the Child Tax Credit. I’m with you, let’s end child poverty together.”

Moore then high-fived the doll’s hand, ending the video.

The video quickly went viral on social media, receiving criticism from Republicans who described the clip as “weird” and “insane.”

Several conservative critics also noted the irony of Democrats calling Republicans, including former President Donald Trump and 2024 Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance , “weird” while simultaneously posting videos talking to dolls.

Last week, Trump railed against Vice President Kamala Harris for calling him and his running mate Vance “weird.”

“She actually called me weird. ‘He’s weird!’ It was just a soundbite, and she called JD and I ‘weird.'” Trump protested during a press conference . “He’s not weird, he was a great student at Yale, he went to Ohio State, graduated in two years at the top of his class, and all of these different things.”
