Fox News hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino pressed a campaign spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris over her record thus far in office and why she hasn’t accomplished more of what she’s promising now on the campaign trail.

Michael Tyler, communications director for Harris’s campaign, joined America’s Newsroom on Tuesday following both President Joe Biden and Harris speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago the night prior. Tyler argued tackling inflation is a top priority for Harris, including lowering the costs of groceries and homes.

“They’ve had a couple years to try and get that done, we– you well know,” Hemmer shot back.

“We actually created a tax system that is fair to middle-class families, a middle-class tax cut versus what Donald Trump wants to do via his across-the-board tariffs,” Tyler continued, arguing Trump’s tariffs would equate to a tax increase for Americans.

“Is she for increasing the corporate tax rate to 28%?” Perino asked about Harris.

“You’ve heard our campaign talk about that, absolutely billionaires and corporations need to pay their fair share,” Tyler said, accusing Trump of pushing an economy only benefitting the “ultra-wealthy.”

“But do you concede that most people say the economy was better for them under Trump than Joe Biden?” Perino asked.

“What you saw in Donald Trump is someone who by the time he left office, the economy was in a ditch,” Tyler argued, acknowledging Trump dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic, but accusing him of “mismanaging” the crisis.

Hemmer fit in another dig at Harris’s record as vice president before wrapping up the interview.

“What she’s talked about is working on it on day one and Donald Trump has come back and said, what have you been doing for the last 1,305 days?” he said. “So we’ll see what kind of answer we get this week.”
