John Legend and Pink will perform at the Democratic National Convention, CNN special correspondent Jamie Gangel reported on Wednesday.

Anchor Brianna Keilar opened the segment by playing a clip from Tuesday evening’s roll call, which is a “kind of boring part of the convention usually,” but the Democrats had DJ Cassidy playing a song for each state, getting an energetic response from the crowd at Chicago’s United Center. The peak moment was unquestionably when Lil Jon made a surprise appearance to perform live during Georgia’s turn.

Keilar then turned to Gangel to share her report with entertainment correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister about the “megastar” musical performances.

Legend would be performing Wednesday evening, said Gangel, as a “tribute to another legend, Prince, from Minnesota,” before Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, delivers his remarks.

Then, on Thursday, Gangel continued, Pink would take to the stage. Both musical performances had been “kept secret,” she said, describing Pink as “extraordinary” and “know for her high energy” performances. Gangel added that those who were familiar with Pink’s planned performance was that “she will be bringing down the house tomorrow night.”

“Pink likes to dangle from the ceilings,” commented Keilar. “Is that going to happen here?”

“There are balloons there — you never know,” replied Gangel. (Party conventions traditionally end with a balloon drop at the end of the nominee’s speech on the final night.)

GOP commentator Scott Jennings expressed mock outrage at the DNC festivities. “Damnit, the bastards figured something out!” he said as the rest of the panel laughed. He called the previous night’s DJ roll call vote “so cool” and said this was part of what he loved about conventions. “So I appreciate what they’re trying to do to make it fun. So hats off. Good, good idea, Democrats. You got one.”
