Chuck Todd Declares Obamas at DNC ‘Might Go Down’ as ‘Best Produced’ Convention Night of ‘Modern Era’

NBC News senior political analyst Chuck Todd was so impressed with the second night of the Democratic National Convention , he declared it may go down as the “best produced” convention night in the “modern era.”

Todd joined MSNBC’s Chris Jansing from the Chicago event and gave a “shoutout” to producers for the massive crowds and livening up events that many would typically find boring, like the roll call .

“I got to give the producers of this convention a little bit of a shoutout. I think last night might go down as the best single-produced night of a convention in the modern era. To pull off what they did, 20,000 in each arena, that was an interesting flex. But the roll call! It was entertaining!” Todd said.

The former Meet the Press moderator called the second night of the convention — which featured Barack Obama and Michelle Obama speaking — the most “energizing” night Democrats have had in years.

“People used to leave to go to the suites to go get drinks before the speeches that night. Instead, Tuesday night became a big party,” he said.

Todd argued Vice President Kamala Harris is “embracing” the “style” of Democrats like Barack Obama, whom Todd argued is the “only one” to “effectively” take on Donald Trump . The political analyst noted that Trump has his busiest week on the books currently and argued the Republican needs to focus his campaign stops more, saying his current strategy is a “spaghetti at the wall type of thing.” Todd also wondered aloud if Trump’s age — 78 — will become an issue in the coming days as both he and Harris campaign and travel more, especially in light of President Joe Biden , 81, dropping his reelection campaign amid stamina and age concerns.

“At 78 years old, I’m very curious to see what Donald Trump looks like Friday,” he said.
