Seconds after former President Donald Trump hung up the phone to end his interview with Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade corrected the record on a false claim made by Trump.

The Republican nominee spent nearly 40 minutes, uninterrupted by any commercial breaks, rambling about several disconnected thoughts in reaction to the current Democratic National Convention and that many national polls see him behind Vice President Kamala Harris after holding a significant lead just a month ago.

At one point in the interview, Trump repeated the false claim made during Wednesday’s rally that Vice President Harris met with Russian President Vladimir Putin just days before Russian military forces invaded Ukraine. Trump said:

We’re going to end up in World War three because she’s incompetent. Biden sent her. Russia would have never happened with Ukraine if I were president. Israel, the attack on Israel would have never happened. Iran had no money. They had no money to give to Mars or Hezbollah. But let me tell you, and a little known fact, the press doesn’t want to talk about it. Biden sent I called her comrade Kamala, said Comrade Kamala, to see Putin in Russia three days before the attack. She went. She said she gave her case. He attacked three days later. He attacked. Three days later, he laughed at her. He thought she was a joke.

As Trump ended the call, Kilmeade noted that if Trump were to win this election in 75 days, it would be “the greatest comeback in American political history” before wishing him the “Best of luck.”

After exchanging pleasantries and Trump appearing to leave the call, Kilmeade corrected the claim.

“Just as a quick clarification, we don’t have confirmation that the vice president went to Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin,’ Kilmeade noted.”I know she went over to Europe right before the incursion when Russia invaded Ukraine. And it’s a war there’s still going on right now.”

“I’ve heard that said a lot,” Earhardt pushed back on her co-host. “You don’t have confirmation that that’s true.?”

“No, I don’t. I don’t think that — I don’t know if the vice president ever met Vladimir Putin.,” Kilmeade hedged in reply.

TRUMP: If these two people take it over. This country is finished, she’s a Marxist. And that’s where she’s going to be. Open borders. No drilling. Our country will die.

KILMEADE: Mr. President, you got 75 days to. To win or to lose if you win. Who would cap the greatest comeback in American political history. Best of luck.

EARHARDT: Thank you so mucgh for joining us!

TRUMP: Brian, if I might say, you know, we’re leading in the polls. And without that working hard, you mentioned that, you know, RFK would be the biggest thing. I said, well, we made, making big speeches every day. We’re going to make another one. So we’re really out there, but we’re leading in the polls, and we’re going to continue, and we’re going to win. November 5th is the most important day in the history of our country.

KILMEADE: And early voting starts in a couple of weeks, and early voting starts in a couple of weeks.

    EARHARDT: That’s right. Exactly.

KILMEADE: All right. It’s going to be exciting.

TRUMP: Thank you all very much.

EARHARDT: Thank you! We did reach out to Harris and Walz to their team, their campaign to ask them to join us. We asked them every day, and we have not heard back.

KILMEADE: Yeah. And just as a quick clarification, we don’t have confirmation that, the vice president went to Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin. I know she went over to Europe right before the, the incursion when Russia invaded Ukraine. And it’s a war there’s still going on right now.

EARHARDT: I’ve heard that said a lot. You don’t have confirmation that that’s true.

KILMEADE: No, I don’t I don’t think that I don’t know if the vice president ever met, Vladimir Putin.
