Bill O’Reilly told Republicans they “caught a break” in facing Vice President Kamala Harris in November instead of Michelle Obama, following the former first lady taking the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

O’Reilly pushed back on former President Barack Obama, who declared at the DNC this week that Harris was “ready” to be president. O’Reilly argued Harris has very little on her list of accomplishments as a politician.

“Based on what? She had four years in the Senate; she did nothing. No bills passed. No bills even voted on. Four years. Three and a half as vice president, nothing,” O’Reilly said.

Before serving as senator and vice president, Harris was a prosecutor in California, serving as the state’s attorney general.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama doesn’t have a lot of time in public office under her belt, but O’Reilly called her a far stronger candidate than Harris, playing a clip from her DNC speech where she accused Donald Trump of benefitting from the “affirmative action of generational wealth.”

“Kamala has shown her allegiance to this nation, not by spewing anger and bitterness, but by living a life of service and always pushing the doors of opportunity open to others,” she said. “She understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward. We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth.

Republicans, O’Reilly argued, are “very lucky” they are not facing Michelle Obama in November.

“The Republican Party is very lucky that Michelle Obama did not decide to run for president because she would be a far stronger candidate than Kamala Harris,” he said. “There’s no question about that. So the Republicans caught a break having Kamala instead of Michelle.”
