Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance did not receive the warmest welcome when he entered a donut shop in Georgia.

Vance visited Holt’s Sweet Shop in Valdosta, Georgia on Thursday while in town for a campaign rally. In a video critics are roasting on social media, Vance enters the donut shop and is told almost immediately by the employee working behind the counter that she does not want to be on camera.

“The zoo has come to town. Thank you for letting us come in here,” Vance said.

“Yes, sir,” the woman replied, adding, “I don’t want to be on camera” as she saw people filming.

“She doesn’t want to be on film, guys, so just cut her out of anything,” Vance said.

The Republican ordered two dozen donuts and then introduced himself to the employee.

“I’m JD Vance. I’m running for vice president,” he said.

    “Okay,” the woman replied.

After another employee joined behind the counter, Vance asked each how long they had worked there. The woman who did not want to be on camera said she started in July, while the other said two years.

“If you don’t want to be on film, you’re okay,” an unidentified person can be heard telling the employee who asked to not be on camera.

Vance visited the shop before swinging by Trump headquarters in the same Georgia town. Critics have been quick to take the video and accuse Vance of being “awkward” over the exchange.
