Top Reporter: Trump Campaign Wasting Money in Florida Because He’ll Be Mad If No Ads on TV at Mar-a-Lago

The Trump campaign may be spending money in Florida for reasons unrelated to its ultimate goal of winning the presidential election.

According to The Bulwark’s Marc Caputo , an experienced Florida political reporter political  plugged into Trump World, a recent ad buy in the Sunshine State has an alternative purpose: Appeasing former President Donald Trump and his “pals.”

The campaign is spending $48,000 between August 27 and September 2 around the West Palm Beach area in Florida, near Trump’s primary residence, the Mar-a-Lago club.

Reacting to the news, Caputo threw cold water over Democratic hopes that Vice President Kamala Harris might be able to win Florida’s electoral votes, but presented another damning theory for Trump’s supporters.

“Trump is in little danger of losing Florida,” he argued. “But his staff is in great danger of incurring his wrath if he —and his Palm Beach pals— don’t see his ads at Mar-a-Lago (Trump is barely home this week, so this is as much/more about his pals).

Trump has been criticized in recent weeks by allies for running an increasingly unfocused campaign.

“I hear a great deal of frustration from supporters,” one Republican congressman told Axios earlier this month. “We are all hoping that he will focus more.”

Fox News’ Karl Rove , meanwhile, has suggested that the election will likely come down to whether Trump can be “more discipline”

“I was talking to a rather wise Democrat the other day who said to me, ‘She [Harris] can’t win it, but he can lose it.’ And I think that’s right,” said Rove.
