Former President Donald Trump’s campaign confirmed Tuesday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, both ex-Democrats, will serve as honorary co-chairs on his presidential transition team.

The move aligns two former political rivals with Trump’s campaign as he eyes a potential return to the White House in 2024.

Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes confirmed the appointments to the New York Times: “We are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team. We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team as we work to restore America’s greatness.”

Having recently ended his independent bid for the presidency to endorse Trump, Kennedy Jr. let slip his new role in an interview with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson that aired Monday. The same day, former Democratic congresswoman Gabbard announced her endorsement of Trump. Gabbard broke with the Democratic Party following her failed 2020 presidential run and was recently reported to have been assisting with informal debate preparations for the former president.

The transition team is set to include not only Kennedy and Gabbard but also Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, along with his running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH).
