ABC News has reportedly rejected a request from the Kamala Harris campaign to have microphones unmuted during the entirety of the September 10th debate with Donald Trump .

According to The New York Post , the network sent out an email outlining similar rules as the June 27th debate between Trump and Joe Biden on CNN , including no audience, muted microphones when a candidate is speaking, and no pre-written notes.

Moreover, Oliver Darcy confirmed that ABC sent an email on Tuesday evening stating that the microphones for candidates will be muted if they are not asked a direct question by the moderators, anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis .

Trump’s campaign accepted the rules but the Harris Campaign has not released a statement on the matter. According to Darcy, ABC News has directed journalists not to report on Trump accepting the debate terms on Truth Social.

Trump’s campaign has insisted for weeks that the debate, which will be held at Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center, have the exact rules as the previous debate with Biden. The president stepped out of the race soon after the debate following a poor performance and pressure from members of his own party.

The Harris campaign previously requested earlier this week that the microphones for both candidate be unmuted for the entirety of the debate.
