Vice President Kamala Harris flip-flopped yet again on policy, Thursday, this time rejecting her previous position on the banning of plastic straws.

A Harris campaign official told Axios that the vice president no longer stood by her previous support for the banning of plastic straws, which she openly expressed during her 2019 Democratic presidential primary campaign.

“She doesn’t support banning plastic straws,” the official said. “She cast the tie-breaking vote on the most consequential legislation to combat climate change and create clean energy jobs in history, and as President, she is going to be focused on expanding on that progress.”

The official added, “She joked even then about how crappy paper straws are and the need to come up with better eco-friendly alternatives.”

After CNN asked Harris in 2019 whether she would ban plastic straws as president, the then-presidential candidate responded, “I think we should. Yes.”

She continued, “I think we could do a little bit better than some of those flimsy [paper] straws, but we do need to ban the plastic.”

In recent months, Harris has repeatedly walked back on some of her previous policy positions, including fracking and the construction of a border wall .

This week, Harris flip-flopped yet again over a mandate for electric vehicles.
