Baltimore Ravens Tweet Gets Brutal Community Note After Game-Winning Play in NFL Opener Gets Called Back

The Baltimore Ravens’ heartbreaking loss in the season opener was made even worse when team’s official Twitter account received a humiliating community note.

The Ravens trailed the Kansas City Chiefs 27-20 late in the fourth quarter of NFL’s first game of the season. With four seconds left in the game, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson found tight end Isaiah Likely in the back of the end zone for a last-second touchdown. Ravens coach John Harbaugh indicated from the sideline that his team would go for a two-point conversion to win the game instead of tying it up with an extra point.

Unfortunately for Likely and the Ravens, replays revealed his foot was out of bounds by a toe. The game was literally decided by just an inch.

The Ravens’ account, however, didn’t wait for those replays and immediately reacted to the play.

    “TOUCHDOWN OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” the tweet read.

Within a matter of minutes, a community note was added to the tweet to clarify that it wasn’t actually a touchdown. The terse nature of the note only added to the embarrassment of the premature celebration.

“No, it wasn’t,” the note read.

The note also included a link to a Twitter from the NFL’s account. In the tweet was a photo of Likely’s foot just barely out of bounds.
