Fox’s Tarlov Reminds Co-Hosts Trump Released ‘5,000 Taliban Prisoners’ Including ‘Terrorists’: He ‘Never Wants to Talk About That’

Fox News host Jessica Tarlov argued on Monday that Donald Trump also bore some of the responsibility for the disastrous U.S. exit from Afghanistan early in President Joe Biden’s term in office.

The panel on top-rated show The Five was discussing a recent House GOP report on the exit and co-host Greg Gutfeld asked Tarlov to weigh in.

“You could argue that the Republicans are exploiting this catastrophe for political means, but the Dems were exploiting this, this whole exercise for political optics. They rushed the thing for a political reason. They wanted it out. It was supposed to be timed when they shouldn’t have. So where do you stand on this absolute catastrophe that your party is responsible for?” Gutfeld asked.

“I stand nowhere near that vantage point on this, at least in terms of the timing issue. So I think that the Republicans on the Foreign Affairs Committee would be a lot better served if they had let Democrats participate in the creation of this at all. Gregory Meeks, who’s the ranking Democrat on the committee, said they weren’t invited to participate. They weren’t even shown a draft copy before it was released,” Tarlov replied, adding:

And the timing of that, obviously with an election coming out, makes it quite clear that they want Donald Trump to look like the good foreign policy guy. And for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, by extension, to look like an idiot. And the problem for Trump is that he has people even like McMaster, who has a new book out, has been doing a lot of interviews, and someone who’s actually defended Trump a lot, saying plainly and clearly on television that Trump bears some responsibility for this, not all of the responsibility, but some responsibility because of the February 2020 negotiations that ended up releasing 5,000 Taliban prisoners, which included terrorists.

Donald Trump never wants to talk about that. That was his deal. He was even going to invite them to Camp David. And there’s a new ad out today from the Harris campaign about Trump on national security. And it has all of these people who work for him, like Mark Esper and John Bolton, talking about how he is not fit to serve, that he idolizes dictators, that he is wildly irresponsible.

Gutfeld cut in and attacked the former Trump officials, saying, “They are part of the blob. We’ve been through that. Like there’s an establishment group of people who don’t like him. We know that.”

“No, we don’t know it. You’re going to continue to find out. I’m going to tell you every day,” Tarlov shot back.

“I’ll never be surprised by the people who are complaining, because they are the same people. Jesse, let’s go to you for a final word,” Gutfeld said as the segment wrapped.

It’s refreshing to hear a Faux News person point out some inconsistencies.
