X CEO Linda Yaccarino Ridicules AP Over Guide on How To Leave Musk’s Platform: ‘And Yet… You’re Still Here!’

Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, formerly known as Twitter, publicly ridiculed AP after it published a guide on how to leave Elon Musk’s social network on Thursday.

Under the headline, “Ever wanted to quit Elon Musk’s X platform? Here’s how you can do it,” AP technology reporter Kelvin Chan instructed readers turned off by “Musk’s juvenile humor” and other “toxic” behavior on how to deactivate their accounts.

While the article received more than 1,200 likes, it also received criticism from social media users who questioned why AP was still using the platform.

Yaccarino joined the ridicule, reacting, “and yet… you’re still here!” along with a laughing emoji.

Musk hired Yaccarino as CEO of X in June 2023 in an effort to win back advertisers who had left the platform following his controversial purchase less than a year prior.

While Musk succeeded in winning back some advertisers, others have yet to return to the site.

Coca-Cola, Apple, and Disney all removed paid ads from the platform in 2023 following concerns over Musk’s inappropriate tweets.

This month, the World Bank also ended all paid advertising on the site after its ads were reportedly displayed alongside racist content.

CBS News reported this month that Musk was at risk of yet another advertiser exodus as trust in his ownership of the platform continues to dwindle.

Musk received backlash over yet another tweet this week after he offered to impregnate pop star Taylor Swift.

“I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” he wrote after Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president and signed her endorsement with, “Childless Cat Lady.”
