CNN Guest Elicits Actual Fireworks Effect Mid Interview

Former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander had a colorful appearance on CNN when his background became filled with fireworks midway through his interview.

CNN anchor John Berman interviewed Kander on Friday morning asking if the Democrat will get back into elected politics, or serve in a potential White House administration under Vice President Kamala Harris .

Kander responded that he has “no interest in either” and instead wants to focus on his volunteer work and spending time with his family. However, he jokingly noted that if his children were to get older and became less interested in “hanging out” with him then he might consider reentering politics.

As soon as Kander made these comments and a gesture, a thumbs-up emoji appeared on his screen soon followed by a bunch of digital fireworks in his background leading to laughter from the network’s anchors.

“Well, look, I’m a thumbs up about how my life is right now. And the other thing would be — oh look at this! I’m breaking new ground on CNN,” Kander said as fireworks appeared in his background.

CNN guest David Axelrod later appeared on the show and referenced the prior segment by asking for fireworks in his background.

“You guys are having entirely too much fun on this set this morning,” Axelrod told Berman. “I want thumbs up. I want fireworks. I want the whole treatment.”
