‘Foolish, Fool!’ Trump Rips ABC’s David Muir For Citing FBI Crime Statistics During Debate

Former President Donald Trump attacked ABC News anchor David Muir for fact-checking him regarding FBI crime statistics during the debate.

During a news conference in Southern California on Friday, Trump cited a moment from the debate where Muir corrected Trump’s comments regarding migrant crime in the United States. The former president claimed America was besieged by violent migrant crime to which Muir replied during the debate, “As you know, the FBI says overall violent crime is coming down in this country.”

According to NBC News, data released by the FBI back in June showed that the rate of violent and property crimes had dropped considerably compared to the same period last year. A news anchor citing FBI statistics on crime is nothing out of the ordinary and is widely seen as a notable standard for understanding national crime trends.

Trump addressed the moment Muir fact-checked while giving remarks to the press on Friday by claiming the anchor is a “foolish, fool!”

In breaking news yesterday, the premier statistical agency at the Justice Department. You remember where? David Muir. Tried to correct me when I said that crime is rampant like never before. He said, no. He said, crime is going down. I said, where are you coming from? And you know, you wouldn’t have to need a Bureau of Justice Statistics to know that crime is worse than it’s ever been.

And I guess they probably watched the debate and they heard this is this foolish man, this foolish fool making that statement to me that, no, no crime is coming down. The FBI said it was coming and the FBI defrauded everybody because what they did is they use statistics, not including some of the worst areas and some of the worst cities. So the real numbers are from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and they just released it.

So I think they probably like me because they wanted to defend me. From people that are not smart. From a guy who has good hair but not as good as it was five years ago, to be honest.

Typical Trump-- accuse and deflect. Truth is that Trump showed how ridiculous he has become. Uninformed, angry, unfocused, unprepared. Just a sad old man.
