Joy Reid Rants MAGA Responsible for ‘Actual Violence’ Days After Second Trump Assassination Attempt: ‘Violence Is Coming From Them!’

MSNBC’s Joy Reid claimed it’s MAGA that is responsible for “actual violence” just days after the Secret Service thwarted a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump .

Reid blasted Trump and others for pushing a conspiracy theor y about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, kidnapping and eating pets, a story that has been denied numerous times by local officials who say there is no proof to back up the wild social media claims. This conspiracy theory, Reid added, has led to bomb threats in Springfield, Ohio, including some that led to the closure of schools.

Reid then claimed that Trump was targeted in both assassination attempts — the latest in Florida , the previous in Pennsylvania — by his own supporters, but it’s not clear what Reid is basing these claims of political affiliation on. The would-be gunman arrested in West Palm Beach, Florida, Ryan Wesley Routh , had mentioned voting for Trump in the past in 2016 but quickly turned on the former president, according to CNN .

“Guess where Trump now says he’s going to start the bloody mass deportations? Springfield. Of course. All of this as Trump faces his second brush with death via a gunman shooting at him in Palm Beach, Florida, just as happened in Pennsylvania. Neither of whom were Haitian or any immigrant. Both of whom were white, American, Trump supporting men with guns,” she said about Thomas Crooks and Routh.

Reid later continued this same argument, blaming “actual violence” on MAGA supporters. She pointed a local Ohio sheriff in Portage County telling residents to keep a list of addresses with signs in support of Vice President Kamala Harris as proof of this.

“The irony of it is that the violence, the actual violence we’re seeing comes much more disproportionately from MAGA themselves, whether it’s January 6th, whether it’s them threatening election workers, whether it’s the bomb threats coming into schools in Springfield,” she said. “The violence is coming from them, from their own supporters, yet they try to portray Haitian immigrants as the people to fear.”
