Republican strategist and Bulwark publisher Sarah Longwell teed off on former President Donald Trump’s campaign, calling it the most odious one she’s ever witnessed.
During Wednesday’s edition of The Lead on CNN, host Jake Tapper , Longwell, and other guests discussed remarks by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders that ultimately led to Longwell’s assessment.
“So, my kids keep me humble,” Sanders told a crowd at a Trump rally in Michigan on Tuesday. “Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”
The vice president does not have any biological children and has two stepchildren via the first marriage of her husband Doug Emhoff .
Machalagh Carr , former general counsel for Speaker Kevin McCarthy, denied Sanders’s comments were a dig at Harris’s familial situation.
“I heard the comment and I listened to it because it was pointed out,” Carr said on CNN. “I think what came before that was a woman talking about wanting to fight for her family and fight for her children and trying to stay humble.”
“You really don’t think she was trying to point out that Kamala Harris, Vice President Harris doesn’t have biological children?” Tapper asked.
“I don’t think that that’s how people think,” Carr insisted. “And I didn’t hear that until it was told to me that this is how we’re going to discuss it, which of course I’ve seen on TV day. But what she followed it up with was the failed policies of the Biden-Harris administration.”
Longwell scoffed at Carr’s interpretation.
“First of all, I don’t know how you can interpret her comments any other way,” she said. “But more importantly than that … J.D. Vance has been going on every weird bro podcast to make sure to talk about not just ‘childless cat ladies’ – that’s almost the funny part – but also that women in abusive relationships should stay in those relationships . The way that they defend people like Laura Loomer who are talking about how if Kamala Harris is in the White House, it’s going to smell like curry . This has become the most– the way that they are currently terrorizing the people of Springfield with their racist smear about eating dogs and cats . Like, this is the most vicious, despicable, lie-filled campaign I’ve ever seen. And that is comparing it to what was a pretty significantly indecent campaign that Donald Trump ran in ’16 and ’20.”
The lady is correct ! Trump came on the political scene insulting , mocking, lying and disrespecting his opponents, women, and anyone that wasn’t a white christian straight man. Instead of the GOP shutting that type of rhetoric down they embraced it ! His cult followers loved it ! They would say “ Trump tells it like it is ! He don’t sugar coat “ When judges, governors , prosecutors involved in Trump cases started getting threatening & harassing phone calls from his supporters , The GOP was silenced, never did they denounce 45 for inciting violence on people just doing they’re jobs. Instead they showed up at his “:Hush money trial “ to show solidarity to a man who cheated on his wife with a porn star . Trump degrades the title of president , the GOP has lowered the standards of the presidency to please one man , they turn a blind eye and a deaf ear so a felon , who’s a sex offender, racist and adulterer could run for POTUS
