Rachel Maddow Claims Trump Isn’t Concerned About Getting Votes: ‘He Doesn’t Think Elections Are a Real Thing’

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow argued former President Donald Trump and state election boards are gearing up to muddy the waters when it comes to election results in November.

Maddow joined fellow MSNBC host Joy Reid on Wednesday after Reid called Trump’s campaign schedule light. Maddow theorized his schedule is light because he’s not concerned with actually getting votes.

“If you didn’t know any better, you’d think Trump isn’t even really trying to win the election,” Reid said.

Maddow pointed to a “weird moment” at a Trump rally in Georgia in August, where he shouted out at the State Election Board by name. This same board has grown controversial in the waning days to the presidential election as the board has been pushing forth new, controversial rules. A lawyer for Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger sent a letter to the board, warning them that their “absurd” changes are happening far too close to the election.

“It’s the technocratic board that oversees the administration of elections in Georgia, and so him shouting them out by name, and claiming them as MAGA superheroes who were pit bulls for victory was a bad sign,” Maddow said.

The MSNBC host laid out a scenario in which multiple states with MAGA majority election boards simply refused to tally results and meet a Dec. 11 deadline, “theoretically” setting up a scenario in which Trump would need fewer electoral votes to win.

“Republicans have been trying to refuse certification Since 2020, in all of the swing states, in a bunch of states that aren’t swing states, in more than two dozen, more than three dozen instances, they just refused to say here was the vote total in our most recent election,” she said. “They’re doing this leading up to the 2024 presidential election, when it seems very clear that no matter what the results are, they’re going to say there’s no knowable result.”

Trump, she added, doesn’t think elections are a “real thing,” noting his election denialism about 2020 results.

“He doesn’t think that elections are a real thing. He doesn’t think that elections are legitimate, and he doesn’t want an American form of government in which elections decide whether or not he’s in power because he doesn’t believe election results should be binding,” Maddow said. “And so that’s what it boils down to when you talk about — People say democracy is on the ballot, that’s what it is. The nuts and bolts way plays out with what is now a whole Republican party strategy to say, we’re likely not going to have any election results, and we’re going to have to figure this out some other way.”

“That’s why we say scaring is caring on this show,” Reid said. “It’s kind of our theme.”

These two have a big problem. In my opinion they live in a bubble world with the view people. Common sense left the bubble. I wish
