Chris Cuomo Says AOC ‘Does Not Value Her Opponents as Human Beings’ After Her Office Tagged with ‘Blood-Splattered Signs’

NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo said Friday that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) does not “value her opponents as humans the way she does herself” after the New York Democrat accused Israel of war crimes and her office was “tagged with blood-splattered signs” accusing her of “supporting terrorism.”

Cuomo condemned the vandalism to Ocasio-Cortez’s office, but also blasted her accusations against Israel in his comments over the weekend.

In a post on X, Ocasio-Cortez said pager attacks carried out against members of Hezbollah in Lebanon “clearly and unequivocally” violated “international humanitarian law.” She called for Congress to investigate the attack.

Explosive devices inside of pagers being used by members of Hezbollah went off in a mass Tuesday attack that left dozens dead and thousands injured, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

Cuomo previously took aim at Ocasio-Cortez’s post with his own.

“Why don’t you mention the pagers were on members of a terrorist organization that is committed to destroying Israel? Would you have been defending al qaeda when America was lighting them up in Iraq?” he wrote.

The congresswoman responded by bringing up 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah , one of two children killed in the attacks.

“What did the 9 year old girl who was killed do to deserve that, Chris?” she wrote. “Insinuating that anyone who questions how operations unfold, including civilian casualties, is siding with terrorists is a deeply ugly rearing of our past. Would you cheerlead going back into Afghanistan?”

On his show, Cuomo continued his debate with Ocasio-Cortez by breaking down the “proof” she gave to back up her war crimes accusation after her office was vandalized.

“Yesterday my House office was tagged with blood-splattered signs accusing me of supporting terrorism after I questioned the pager operation, which clearly runs counter to US policy,” she wrote on X. “They must live under a rock to not know I don’t take well to bullies.”

She then included the Department of Defense policies on “booby traps.”

Cuomo called Ocasio-Cortez “dead wrong” and continued reading from the same Department of Defense Law of War Manual she referenced , reading that the “indiscriminate” use of booby traps and similar devices is what is prohibited.

    Cuomo said:

“Okay. One, Israel is not one of the United States, so they don’t follow our laws or rules. Second, if the representative was suggesting by that comparison that the United States should therefore not support Israel, good luck with that. And then here’s what really bothers me about this salvo. She’s dead wrong. This is why you don’t accuse and then go in search of a crime. It says it is prohibited in all circumstances to use booby traps, and that’s what you would call putting little explosive devices in a pager. That part, this is this is the right context in the form of apparently harmless portable objects like a pager that are specifically designed and constructed to contain explosive material, but here’s the part that she left out. Oddly, the next section after the one she cited, the use of mines, booby traps, other devices is subject to the same rules and principles that govern the use of other weapons to conduct attacks. What does that mean? The rules include a prohibition against the indiscriminate use of mines, booby traps, and other devices. Indiscriminate.”

Israel, he continued, can justify their actions because they are under direct threat from the terror group they targeted.

“The war manual even specifies an example of when booby traps are not prohibited. It would not be prohibited to improvise a booby trap, for example, to retard an enemy advance. What does that mean? Could mean a lot of things. One of them certainly is a group of bloodthirsty terrorists coming for you. So, did she not read that part because she’s not a lawyer or not thorough, or did she intentionally not want to be fair?” Cuomo said.

He went on to accuse Ocasio-Cortez of not valuing her opponents as “humans” as she does herself as she showed outrage over the vandalism of her office, but not as much for attacks on Republican colleagues. Cuomo also condemned former President Donald Trump saying Jewish people “would have a lot to do” with him losing in November during the segment, saying he’s “adding to the problem.”

Cuomo accused Ocasio-Cortez of being silent on threats made against Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and the two assassination attempts against Trump. Ocasio-Cortez did condemn political violence following the first Trump assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“There is no place for political violence, including the horrific incident we just witnessed in Pennsylvania,” she wrote, wishing Trump a “speedy recovery.”

Cuomo said he was on Ocasio-Cortez’s side in standing against attacks against her, but called for her to be more outspoken against worse attacks and threats against her colleagues.

    Cuomo said:

“People who are apparently angry at her for these attacks against Israel did some nasty shite to her office, and I don’t like it. People should not express their political ideas that way. It makes you what you oppose. It makes you people who do things the wrong way. But it is interesting that AOC sees that as worthy. Speak out against that, coming and doing these ugly things to my office. Imagine if they had sent a real bomb threat. That’d be way worse, right? And if she felt that way about them just coming and vandalizing, how would she feel about real bomb threats, at her home even? Imagine what she would feel and say. Of course, she had nothing to say about her colleague Anna Paulina Luna when that’s exactly what happened to her. And she said nothing about the assassination attempts against former President Trump. So what do we know? Clearly, she does not value her opponents as humans the way she does herself. That is a bigger problem than her getting the law wrong and accusing an ally under siege of war crimes.”
