Police Investigating Shots Fired at Kamala Harris Campaign Office in Arizona, Days Before Scheduled Visit

Police in Tempe, Arizona are investigating a shooting incident at a Democratic National Committee-run office for Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign. It’s the second shooting incident in as many weeks.

NBC News reported that the most recent incident appeared to have happened overnight on Monday and there was no one at the office at the time. When employees arrived at the office during the day, they called the police to report that there were several bullet holes in the front windows of the office. In a statement to NBC News on Wednesday, the Tempe police said: “We can confirm that on 9/23/24, what appears to be damage from gunfire at … a DNC Campaign Office, was discovered.”

Public Information Officer Sgt. Ryan Cook said in a statement on Tuesday that even though no one was present at the time of the shooting “this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby.”

The police also confirmed that on September 16, someone fired a BB gun at the office windows after midnight. No one was injured during that incident.

The most recent shooting incident, which is being treated as a property crime, occurred days before Harris was scheduled to arrive in the state on Friday as part of her presidential campaign. She is expected to address her work on the U.S.-Mexico border , a key issue in the 2024 election, especially in the Sun Belt states.
