Elon Musk Blasts Labour Government After UK Summit Snub: ‘They’re Releasing Convicted Pedophiles!’

Elon Musk hit back at the UK’s Labour government after being left off the invite list for the country’s upcoming International Investment Summit over social media posts criticizing Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s response to nationwide riots in August.

The summit, scheduled for October 14, is a key initiative of the Labour government aimed at boosting economic growth by attracting increased foreign investment to the UK, and is set to be held at a central London venue. Musk’s absence is notable given his prominent role at last year’s AI Summit and previous tours of potential gigafactory sites in the UK.

Musk took to the internet to decry the snub as politically motivated. The BBC reported that Musk was not invited after controversial social media posts during recent riots predicting a “civil war” in the UK and pushing fake news about rioters being sent to the Falkland Islands as punishment – which he later deleted. At the time UK officials called the comments “deplorable.”

The tech mogul then took to X, the social media platform he owns, to claim convicted sex offenders were freed during the government’s efforts to ease prison overcrowding and facilitate the imprisonment of rioters. The UK government claims no such releases were made.

“I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted pedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts,” Musk wrote.

The UK government has yet to comment on the issue.
