Mark Cuban Roasts ‘Libs of TikTok’ For ‘Playing the Victim’ After Declaring Conservative Media ‘The MSM’

Mark Cuban pushed back at Libs of TikTok’s Chaya Raichik, who tried and failed to mock his recent CNBC appearance in which he insisted that “conservative media is now the MSM.”

Cuban appeared on CNBC’s unfortunately titled morning show Squawk Box and surprised conservative host Joe Kernen by asserting that right-leaning media is now the predominant or most mainstream voice across the partisan spectrum.

“What’s the most watched news channel? Who are the most watched, viewed, and listened to podcasts? Who are the most watched and listened to?” Cuban asked, to which the host replied, “IS it Fox?”

“Yeah. Yeah, right. I mean, it’s not close, right? The number one shows are all Fox. The number one podcast,” Cuban continued. “Meaning the mainstream media is not who you think it is. The mainstream media truly leans right.”

Raichik took issue with Cuban’s comment by posting on X via the LibsofTikTok account:

Mark Cuban is actually out here claiming the mainstream media leans right and is right wing. This is factually false according to the data. The reason FOX has the most watched shows is because they aren’t PURE TRASH like MSNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, etc.

She posted a video clip of Cuban’s comments and added the following graphic that made a different point than the one that Cuban was making, focused on the partisan composition of journalists and not the impact or influence of outlets adjudged by audience size:

Never one to shy away from conflict and/or resolution, Cuban quoted Raichik’s critique and doubled down on his claim, writing:

I gave a compliment to right leaning media. You are now the MSM. The biggest tv news shows are on Fox. The top 10 podcasts have a bunch of right leaning shows. Sinclair owns more tv stations than anyone. Salem- all right leaning. Ihearts biggest syndicated shows -all conservative. The biggest political influencer accounts on social media are…including you.. conservative. The biggest influencer of all, @elonmusk, is the ultimate Trump Maxi. He probably has 5x the followers of all other political influencers combined Conservative media is now the MSM. I know that makes it harder to play the victim. But that is the reality.

Cuban is making a point here that I’ve been making for over a decade. With the declining influence of network news and the sudden rise of cable news influence in the political realm, it is not even close to a fair fight, judging by ratings. Fox News outrates CNN and MSNBC combined nearly every month of every year. Conservative voices forever dominated talk radio, and while that viewership has diminished dramatically, it has largely been replaced by conservative voices.

Yes, NPR has a liberal bent and several progressive outlets exist. And there is no denying that the vast majority of individuals that work in political media are to the left of the center. But let’s no longer pretend that mainstream media isn’t conservative when the numbers simply don’t lie.
