Trump Lays the Groundwork for More Bogus Stolen Election Claims: ‘They Cheat’

Former President Donald Trump is already blaming voter fraud if he loses November’s election.

Trump infamously and falsely claimed the 2020 election was rigged against him. In doing so, he riled up some of his most ardent supporters, who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, while Congress attempted to certify Joe Biden as the winner of the election.

Speaking in Walker, Michigan on Friday, the former president slammed Vice President Kamala Harris over the Biden-Harris administration’s record on immigration.

“Like in Caracas, Venezuela, the criminals have all been brought to the United States,” Trump said, repeating his baseless claim that other countries are sending their violent criminals to the U.S. “Their crime rate is down in Caracas. In fact, I suggest if I lose – I’ll tell you what, it’s possible because they cheat. That’s the only way we’re gonna lose, because they cheat. They cheat like hell.”

As he spoke, the crowd cheered in approval of his statement.

“If we lose, the next time we’re gonna have the same group of people in Caracas, Venezuela because it’s much safer than any place in our country if she wins. Much safer.”

Trump has a long history of baseless voter fraud allegations. After winning the 2016 election despite losing the popular vote, he claimed that he would have won the popular vote if it weren’t for fraud.

“In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally,” he tweeted a few weeks after his victory. Earlier that year, he alleged the Republican primary was being rigged against him.

While addressing a group of police officers in North Carolina this month, Trump told them to be on the lookout for voter fraud.

“Watch for the voter fraud because we win without voter fraud,” Trump said. “We win so easily. Hopefully, we’re going to win anyway. But we want to keep it down. And you can keep it down just by watching because, believe it or not, they’re afraid of that badge. They’re afraid of you people.”
