Joe Scarborough Blasts Wall Street Journal For ‘Running Lies’ in JD Vance FEMA Op-Ed: ‘There Are No Standards’

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough blasted the Wall Street Journal and accused the newspaper of “running lies” by publishing an editorial by Republican running mate Senator JD Vance (R-OH) parroting claims that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was diverting disaster relief resources to migrant housing projects.

Vance’s opinion editorial, published on Wednesday , accused the Biden administration of “incompetence” and failing in its disaster relief response to Hurricane Helene.

The senator and VP candidate accused the Biden administration of trying “to reorient FEMA’s institutional focus away from U.S. citizens and toward aliens who either have no legal right to be here or whose legal status depends on the say-so of the Biden-Harris administration.” This attempt to “shift FEMA’s priorities,” Vance claims, left the citizens of hurricane-impacted states “suffering for days.”

Scarborough, who began by defending FEMA’s response and citing the praise for the agency from conservative governors across states that were affected by Helene, snapped at the Wall Street Journal for having “no standards.”

Holding up a copy of the newspaper, the host began:

One of the things I always tell people when they spread conspiracy theories is go to the Wall Street Journal . I said it’s a [Rupert] Murdoch[-owned] paper – go to the Wall Street Journal .

The Wall Street Journal is publishing disinformation that might as well be in [far-right outlet] Epoch Times. The fact that it’s from a vice presidential candidate matters not. This is the same man who lied about cats and dogs being eaten when the governor of his own state said stop.

When you said there are no standards, this is a perfect example of it. There’s lies every day. There’s people here, in the Wall Street Journal that I’ve respected for decades who are trying to pretend this is just any other election, they’re people I’ve known my entire life. Engaging in this anti-anti-Trumpism.

He continued:

Here, when people are in such misery and suffering, you have the Wall Street Journal editorial page running disinformation, running lies, that the Republican governor of Georgia, Republican governor of South Carolina, Republican governor of Tennessee, the Republican governor of Virginia, Republican senator of North Carolina, a Democratic senator of North Carolina also saying it, all of the local leaders, state officials, Republican and democratic alike, are saying this administration is doing everything that we’ve asked of it.

And yet, disinformation spreads, even in sources that used to be above that.
