The View host Sara Haines called out Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris for “missed opportunities” to “be clear to voters” that “she’s not President Joe Biden ” during her “media blitz” last week.

Harris’s media rounds included an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes , the “Call Her Daddy” podcast and Howard Stern’s radio show. The Trump campaign and critics, however, seized on soundbites from her appearance on The View after she was asked whether she would have done anything differently than Biden.

At the time Harris said: “There is not a thing that comes to mind,” and that she had been part of “most of the decisions” the administration had made. Later she offered that, unlike Biden, she would have a Republican in her cabinet.

Reflecting on the exchange on Tuesday Haines disagreed with co-host Sunny Hostin’s claim Harris had run a “flawless campaign” and argued that Harris had “missed opportunities” to set herself apart.

I’m going to push back a little on Sunny’s comment that it’s a flawless campaign and this is why I’ll say this. I’m voting for Kamala Harris because we talked about this last week, all the whys, but I think the criticism of people who it’s not resonating with, she went on a media blitz and it was mostly friendly interviews. There was some questions, but she didn’t seem prepared. The question you asked her got a ton of press about how would you change yourself? She said, ‘Not one thing comes to mind’ and she’s headed into a media blitz. These are the questions you’re going to get, and so what I’m confused about is either she wasn’t prepared, which I don’t think so. I think she over-prepares, or she doesn’t have a difference to sell.

I wouldn’t go flawless on it because there were missed opportunities and I think what people are not criticizing back what their problems are, is I don’t think they fully understand… They know why she’s not Donald Trump , but they don’t know why she’s not President Biden, and I think she needs to be both of those things in an election of change, and aside from beating Donald Trump, she has to be clear to voters why she wants the job.

Hostin asked: “Don’t you think they know she definitely isn’t Donald Trump?”

Haines followed: “That’s my point. That’s clear, but I think she needs to distinguish herself.”

The point opened debate between the co-host Ana Navarro adding that Harris was “loyal” and that critics simply wanted her “to throw Joe Biden under the bus.”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin , who served under the Trump administration as communications director, agreed with Haines and added that Harris distancing herself from Biden’s policies was key, arguing that the public turned on Biden due to his policies.

She said: “We each have one vote, but Republicans are outpacing Democrats in registering new voters in key battleground states and that’s what can make all the difference. To Sara’s point, I think this idea of change really matters, because whether you guys love Joe Biden or not, the public was turning on his policies. That was why there was the whole…”

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg disagreed: “The public wasn’t turning on his policies. They were turning on the fake news of him being too old to do the job.”

Griffin replied: “The reality is the majority of voters didn’t want Joe Biden back, so she needs to signal how she’s different. She can keep plenty of the good…”

“The Biden administration…” Hostin interrupted in defense of the current administration.

“You think that because you’re a registered Democrat who loves Joe Biden,” Griffin added.

“This is statistics. These are facts. The Biden administration has been one of the most successful administrations in decades,” Hostin insisted.

    “Successful means?” Griffin asked.

    “That’s a fact,” Hostin said.

“Successful is a relative term,” Griffin replied.
