Trump Roasts Eric Adams Over Indictment: ‘You’re Peanuts Compared to What They’ve Done to Me’

Former President Donald Trump roasted New York Mayor Eric Adams over his legal woes at the Al Smith Dinner on Thursday night.

Trump was found guilty in May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to cover up extramarital affairs. The former president has also been indicted in two federal cases and faces state charges in Georgia.

Adams, who was at the dinner, was indicted in federal court last month in an alleged bribery scheme in which he accepted free or discounted travel from the Turkish government.

After Jim Gaffigan gave his monologue and referred to Adams as being “brought to you by Turkish airlines,” the comedian introduced Trump.

“Mayor Adams, good luck with everything,” the former president said. “They went after you. They went after you, Mayor. Oh boy, I knew that. Nine and a half months ago, I said, ‘You know, he just said something bad about the administration. He’s gonna be indicted any moment.’ And guess what happened? But you’re gonna win. I think you’re gonna win. I know you’re gonna win, so good luck. Good luck. I don’t like what they do. I don’t like what they do.”

Later, Trump joked, “It’s really a pleasure [to go] anywhere in New York without a subpoena for my appearance. Any time I don’t get a subpoena, I’m very happy.”

He then pivoted back to Adams.

“They’ve gone after me,” he said. “Mr. Mayor, you’re peanuts compared to what they’ve done to me. And you’re gonna be ok.”
