View Hosts Respond To Trump’s Digs at Al Smith Dinner: ‘Such an Enjoyable Thing To Live Rent Free in His Head’

The hosts of The View responded to former President Donald Trump taking digs at them and their show during Thursday’s Al Smith Dinner in New York.

In his comments, Trump joked at the event that The View is so bad that he thought while watching the other day that they should bring back Rosie O’Donnell , a former co-host Trump famously and publicly feuded with.

Trump said:

“The stupid show The View is so bad now that the other day I was watching it and thinking to myself, you know what? They really need to bring Rosie O’Donnell back. That show is bad, those people are bad. I know every one of them and they are bad news, I want to tell you. And it doesn’t do very well either. I always like to say, you know ratings are very important. When they don’t do well, it doesn’t do very well.”

Joy Behar mocked the jokes as gibberish and then said each of the hosts had met Trump, only to face a quick correction.

“Hello, no!” Ana Navarro objected.

Trump has not met Sara Haines , Navarro, or Sunny Hostin . He’s met Behar through past appearances on The View , and Alyssa Farah Griffin worked as a communications official in his administration. Whoopi Goldberg was not present on Friday.

“I don’t know what the hell you’re reading but I got to tell you I’ve lived 52 years, I’ve lived 44 years in this country, I have never shaken that man’s hand, I’ve never given him a kiss, I’ve never watched his show, I’ve never bought any of his crappy products, and I never voted for him!” Navarro said.

Hostin noted that Trump did notice her when she attended his hush money trial in New York over the summer.

Griffin defended the ratings of The View , which does top daytime network talk shows and news programs, and said she believes her former boss is “losing it” and doesn’t actually know that he never met three of the five women at the table.

“Also, I would just like everyone to know we are number one overall in daytime the last four years so the ratings are fine, but this also cracked me up because after he came after you recently, he apparently came after me on a podcast and said he didn’t know me, he never met me despite that I worked for him. Now he says he knows me which gets back to my point that I think he’s slowing down, I really think it. And he doesn’t actually know that he’s never met these three,” Griffin said.

Hostin then took a moment to celebrate living “rent-free” in Trump’s head.
