Billionaire Elon Musk, who has two degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, told a crowd of Trump supporters recently that higher education is “overrated.”

Musk has joined former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail in recent weeks and has given tens of millions of dollars to support his reelection. The Tesla billionaire has stumped for Trump at rallies and town halls and is focusing on Pennsylvania.

“The next, basically, three days are essential,” Musk said at a town hall in Folsom. “I think we see that this election will be decided in Pennsylvania by, it could be 10,000 votes, it could be 1,000 votes, it could be 10 votes. It could be some very tiny number, so every incremental person is a huge difference.”

“I haven’t been politically active before. I’m politically active now because I think the future of America, the future of civilization, is at stake,” claimed Musk using ominous language. Oddly, however, Musk is also discouraging those in the audience and his followers on X from studying topics like political science.

Musk shared a clip from one of his events on Monday with the caption, “College is overrated.”

In the clip, Musk stands in front of an American flag and says, “I also think that, like the value of a college education is is somewhat overrated. You know, and I think it’s to to too many people actually spend four years, accumulate a ton of debt, and then don’t they often don’t have useful skills that they can apply afterwards. And I think I have a lot of respect for people who work with their hands. And we need electricians and plumbers and carpenters and you know.”

“That’s that’s a lot more important than having incremental poli– political science majors, I think. You know, so I think we should not have this idea that that to be successful you need to have a four-year college, that that is simply not true,” he added.

Musk , who built Tesla into one of the world’s most valuable companies, has long been a man of many contradictions. While embracing Trump, Musk’s company continues to lobby for government subsidies and embrace green technology – which the former president rails against publicly.

Reuters reported after Musk endorsed Trump, “Trump has opposed stricter emissions rules and criticized subsidies for EV manufacturers. Shortly after endorsing the former president, Musk echoed the sentiment. ‘Take away the subsidies,’ he wrote on social media, a week before Tesla reported its $890 million credit windfall. ‘It will only help Tesla.’” Musk’s companies, Tesla and SpaceX, have taken billions in government subsidies over the years.

Trump wants them stupid. they need to be just educated enough to run the machinery and do what they're told, but not so educated as to have individual thought. of course, Elon is in that camp as well
