What to Do With Family Around the Holidays

Well everyone, we are only a couple weeks away from Christmas! And with the holidays come lots of festive activities to take advantage of! But during a time when the family is all together, whether it's your extended or immediate family, it can be nice to have an idea of things to do! So I will be sharing with you 10 Things to do with family around the holidays.

• ice skating
• Take the family to an ice skating rink this holiday season. one of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit is going to an outdoor ice skating rink. Check to see if your local town or city sets up a rink for the holidays. One of our favorite things to do around the holidays is ice skate in Pittsburgh. its fun to get bundled up, listen to Christmas music, and see the city in a new way while ice skating!
• see drive-through Christmas lights
• check your local area for any drive-through Christmas lights that may be happening! This is a fun evening event to bring the family and something everyone will find fun! check out Shadrack's Christmas wonderland where you can find an immersive Christmas drive-through experience!
• movie theater to see movie or watch holiday movie
• The holiday season isn't complete without watching a good holiday classic! Come together as a family and pick out a holiday movie to watch or see whats playing in the movie theater and make an evening out of it! One of my family's favorite holiday movie to watch is Christmas Vacation because it is both festive and funny and we love that.
• make a craft, gingerbread house, decorate Christmas cookies, make ornaments or hot chocolate bombs
• The holidays are a great time to attempt any crafts you have been wanting to make all year. Making a festive craft is a great activity to do with the family! Here are a couple of examples. You can decorate a gingerbread house, make Christmas ornaments, decorate Christmas cookies, or make hot chocolate bombs!
• go to a Christmas tree farm and get a tree
• one of my favorite holiday traditions was going with my family to pick out a tree at a Christmas tree farm!
• go to a Christmas themed event in the closest city
• Around the holidays there are always lots of festive events that happen. You can find a lot of holiday dance recitals or Christmas concerts. Check your local town or city to see what events they have to offer! Some of my favorite events are light-up nights that happen in our town or city, but check your favorite location to see if they have a holiday event happening!
• go sled riding or build a snowman
• If where you live gets snow, go out and take advantage of it! Try to make an awesome sled riding hill or the tallest snow man! If you dont have a hill at your house, Search for a park or place where you can pay to sled ride. Another fun activity is skiing or snowboarding so find a place to hit the slopes this holiday season with family!

• Since the family is already all together, this makes for a great time to get an updated family photo or more pictures to look back on for memories. Find a photographer or do a DIY photoshoot and make the day out of it! You can do this at home or go to find a fun festive location to get photos.
• operation Christmas child
• The Samaritan's Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts‑filled with fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items—and delivers them to children in need around the world to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way.
• volunteer at church or soup kitchen
• A fun way to bring the family together is by volunteering time at church or a soup kitchen. During the holidays we often find ourselves reflecting on what we are thankful for. This is also a great opportunity to give back to the community and bless others.
