Insurance Increases Analyzed, March Meeting Moves to Media Center

LARWILL-Wednesday's Whitko School Board Work Session lasted only about 15 minutes, as the only business discussed was the financials involved with insurance costs for Whitko teachers. As the session had been rescheduled from its original February 14 date, School Board Member Lynn Studebaker was not present. Information was presented by Lynn Leininger.

From the $857,187 recieved, 65% is being allocated for salary and benefit negotiations for the 62 teachers. Insurance premiums raised 21% this year, and it was already agreed that the increased cost would not be passed on to teachers; however, the next couple of years are still being negotiated, with the increase possibly being spread over the next two years.

The next school board meeting will be Monday, February 26 at 6:30 in the WCA lecture room. The March Work Session will be Wednesday, March 13 at 4pm, but note that the meeting will move from its normal location to the WJSHS media center.
