Cleo’s Ferry Museum and Nature Trail
Outside Melba, Idaho is a wondrous place called Cleo’s Ferry Museum and Nature Trail. It is a one-mile walk, mostly on cement paths, where you can see birdhouses, peacocks, animal sculptures, bronzes, etc., while enjoying being very close to the Snake River/Walter’s Ferry. There are preserved 1860’s ferry service buildings and a remarkable eclectic collection of outside art. Named after Dr. Samuel Swayne and his wife, Cleo, this easy walk is peaceful and tranquil. You can feed the peacocks and often come upon mule deer. Located just off Highway 45. If heading south, take a left down the hill to the right of the Phillips 66 service station, then down a gravel road to a large parking lot. Don’t cross the river! Look for Dan’s Ferry signs.
