Melbourne High graduate Max Fiedler, a member of the FLORIDA TODAY All-Decade Boys Basketball team for the 2010s, has signed with the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.

Fiedler, from Indialantic, signed an Exhibit 10 contract, giving him the opportunity to play for the Sixers in the NBA Summer League. That could lead to a more permanent association to the team, possibly via a two-way contract, which would connect him to the Sixers and a G League team. He completed his career at Rice University earlier this year.

As a Rice senior, the 6-foot-11 Fiedler became the school's all-time leader in rebounds, with 1,144, and in assists (571). He played in a school-record 148 games in his career, starting a school-record 135. He finished 14th on the Owls' career scoring list, with 1,383 points. He was named Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year three years in a row, a first for the league.

With the Bulldogs, Fiedler was the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 8A Player of the Year in 2019, when he averaged 21.6 points and 14.3 rebounds.
