Banned Player Wins Casino Jackpot, Gets Arrested
A banned Iowa player won a jackpot in a casino, despite being self-excluded. The man, who used a fake identity, was arrested, prompting an investigation into the matter. Matthew James Wessels, 43, was a self-excluded player who enrolled in the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission’s self-exclusion program in January last year. However, Wessels couldn’t resist the temptation and eventually visited Isle Hotel Casino in Waterloo, according to reports.

GLADBROOK – The Crowning of the 2024 Tama County Fair Queen took place on Tuesday evening, July 16, at the Tama County 4-H Fairgrounds in Gladbrook. Mistresses of Ceremonies for the evening were 2022 Tama County Fair Queen, Kaylynn Murty, 2023 Tama Counry Fair Queen Adelyn Siencknecht, and 2023 Tama County Fair Princess, Emily Hulme.

Final Pleasant Prairie Threshing Bee to be held this month
After 25 years, Nick Foster will hold the final Pleasant Prairie Threshing Bee on July 27. Foster is the president of the Greene County Historical Society, a farmer in Jefferson, and he collects antique tractors and farming equipment. Foster described a threshing machine as essentially a stationary combine that separates the grain from the stalk and chaff.
