USD 253, city of Emporia report issues due to global technology outage
A global technology outage has reached Emporia. Shortly before 8 am, USD 253 Emporia announced PowerSchool went unavailable as part of the outage. This is important for parents because it involves all PowerSchool features, including enrollment verification after enrollment officially opened Wednesday. It also means the EZMeal app also can’t be used until further notice.

Semi fire shuts down US-75 near Melvern
Nobody was hurt after a destructive semi fire in southern Osage County early Friday. The wreck happened on US Highway 75 between the east and west legs of Kansas Highway 278, or about four miles west-northwest of Melvern. Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells tells KVOE News the semi was completely engulfed as authorities arrived shortly after 7 am. The semi was hauling about 3,500 gallons of diesel fuel when a tire blowout ruptured the tank. About 2,500 gallons were saved.
