We have seen good weather for the most part for the early part of this holiday weekend, that is expected to change. Tonight shower chances return to the forecast with scattered shower and storm chances through the overnight hours tonight and into the day on Sunday. Severe weather is not expected to be associated with this system as it moves from west to east. The only threat from a storm this weekend is locally heavy downpours and some minor flash flooding.

Peoria County, IL – A body was found in the Illinois River on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, prompting a multi-agency investigation. The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 9:32 a.m. after a fisherman discovered the body behind Liberty Steel at 7000 S. Adam St., Bartonville. The body was located approximately 300 yards southwest of the Shade-Lohmann Bridge near the Peoria Lock and Dam, caught on the dam.

Dubuque woman hits house near Arboretum
Police said a woman sustained possible injuries this week when her vehicle struck a house near Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. 81-year-old Kimberly Kintzle of Dubuque, sustained possible injuries in the crash but did not require transport by ambulance to an area hospital. The incident occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday along Arboretum Court. A crash report states that Kintzle told officers she was leaving the arboretum when her brakes failed and she exited the roadway. As she exited the roadway, she struck a decorative water fountain before driving over a nearby driveway and striking a house.
