Beloved Midtown eatery, Phở Binh, renowned for its Vietnamese fare and signature lemongrass tofu, served its last plate on January 6, 2024, closing its doors after over 23 years in business. The closure not only marks the end of a cherished dining spot but also leaves a void felt deeply by locals who considered the restaurant owners to be a part of their extended family. However, amidst the heartache, a glimmer of hope emerges as plans for a new establishment begin to take shape.

Sen Trang Restaurant , a Chinese eatery owned by Quyen Nguyen , is poised to occupy the space at 1615 Madison Ave , where Phở Binh once thrived. The restaurant already has a Google business page set up, with the listed phone number directing callers to the Phở Binh voicemail. Interestingly, Nguyen shares the same surname as the previous owners, although any familial connection remains uncertain as he has not yet responded to inquiries from What Now Memphis .

Phở Binh’s farewell announcement revealed that the eatery’s matriarch, fondly referred to as “Momma,” has pledged to stay on with the new owner to help uphold the restaurant’s traditions and share its treasured recipes for as long as her health permits. Alongside its iconic lemongrass tofu, Phở Binh was celebrated for its beef dishes, flavorful soups, and budget-friendly lunch buffet. With this in mind, patrons can hope to find a continuation of these esteemed offerings at the upcoming Sen Trang.

As developments unfold, stay tuned for further updates and details regarding this exciting transition, and be sure to follow Sen Trang’s Facebook page for the latest news.
