The oldest tavern in Memphis is evolving.

According to The Daily Memphian , The Green Beetle is branching out with a new breakfast spot, conveniently situated right next door to the historic tavern in the former site of Bedrock Eats and Sweets at 327 S Main St .

At the helm of this new venture is Josh Huckaby , current owner of The Green Beetle and grandson of legendary Memphian “Big” Frank Liberto, an Italian immigrant and the tavern’s original owner. Joining Huckaby is the newly appointed general manager of The Green Beetle, Mike King , who promises to bring fresh flavors to the table.

With their upcoming concept, the duo plans to pay homage to both Liberto and the site itself, which has undergone a number of transformations over the years, from offering spirits at Frank’s Liquor to serving up sandwiches at Frank’s Main Street Market and Deli.

Aptly dubbed Frank’s Biscuits and Briskets and nestled underneath the familiar red-and-white striped awning, the new eatery will be a fast-casual, grab-and-go breakfast haven featuring build-your-own biscuits, breakfast bowls, and a mouthwatering medley of smoked meats. Come lunchtime, they’ll roll out a selection of sandwiches, closing shop at around 2 p.m.

Beyond The Beetle, Huckaby is also a partner at the newly opened Evergreen Grill in Midtown and operates The Green Beetle Food Truck. King told The Daily Memphian that, in addition to Frank’s, they plan to integrate smoked meats across their various dining establishments.

As the new eatery prepares to delight downtown diners sometime within the next few months, guests can anticipate a blend of timeless charm and fresh flavors at Frank’s Biscuits and Briskets.
