Laird Veatch has been Director of Athletics at the University of Memphis since Oct. 1, 2019. It appears Memphis could soon be looking for his replacement as ESPN's Pete Thamel report on X comes through:

Here's 92.9 FM ESPN's Jeffrey Wright breaking the news live:

Veatch was on Friday's Geoff Calkins Show flexing about the University of Memphis' latest deal NIL deal with FedEx (AUDIO):

Given the framework of the recent FedEx NIL deal and the desire for the University of Memphis to bounce to a bigger conference, it goes without saying it's a massive opening and potential upcoming hire for the school.

UPDATE: The news of Veatch to Missouri became official Tuesday morning with a release and statement from University of Memphis President Hardgrave:

“I want to thank Laird Veatch for his leadership, vision and dedication to the University of Memphis and our student-athletes. It has been a pleasure to work alongside him, and we wish him the best. Jeff Crane will serve as Interim Athletic Director as we explore our options in the coming weeks.

Tiger Nation, as you are aware, we have tremendous momentum within our University and Athletic Department. You can rest assured we will maintain that positive trajectory through this leadership transition. This position deserves the best and brightest leadership talent in collegiate athletics. Our next leader will share the vision of where we are heading as we continue to build our promising future in Tiger Athletics.”
