    MPD investigating 18 overnight thefts from vehicles

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department is currently investigating a series of thefts from motor vehicles that happened overnight.

    According to reports, police responded to an auto break-in at Planet Fitness in Berclair in the 4700 block of Summer Avenue. Police say they are still at the scene.

    Officers say they responded to a call regarding a car break-in at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Memphis located at 5069 Sanderlin Avenue.

    Another call came in for vandalism to a vehicle where officers say they responded to the I-Bank Tower at 5050 Poplar Avenue, which is right in front of the DoubleTree hotel.

    A total of 18 theft from motor vehicle reports have been taken from Sunday alone, police say. The reports for these incidents are not complete at this time.

    Take your weapons inside. If not allowed, don't frequent those establishments. They know the areas where guns are not allowed, so they know they're inside the car.
