MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A young father of three was killed after an argument turned deadly in the Corning Village Apartments; MPD is searching for the suspect who took his life.
Joanne Foster never imagined that her son would be murdered. “My heart is very heavy, it’s nothing that I would wish on nobody.”
Foster says it all started Sunday, March 17. She has just left church. “I got a phone call from my oldest daughter. She was screaming on the phone and saying, ‘Mommy, Dee is dead. Somebody killed Dee.”
Memphis Police say Daniel Jackson, also known as Dee was found in the Corning Village Apartments suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics did all they could to save the young father of three but sadly he was pronounced dead a short time later.
“I jumped in my car and I went out there,” said Foster. “Oh my god, I just screamed when I saw all those police. I knew it was real.”
WREG’s cameras were rolling when Foster arrived.
Homicide detectives told us Jackson and another man were involved in an argument moments before the shooting. They identified the shooter as 30-year-old Davante Middleton.

Foster says Jackson and Middleton had known each other since childhood. “You don’t have no friends like you say you do. Your friends will take your life.”
Detectives are now looking for Davante Middleton and have issued a second-degree murder warrant for his arrest. Foster says Middleton’s arrest won’t bring back her son, but it would help her find peace
“I have to have closure. I can’t rest. I can’t eat. I have lost weight since this has been going on,” Foster said.
If you know where Davante Middleton is hiding, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH. CrimeStoppers is offering up to $4,000 cash for information leading to his arrest.
