Sure it's an early summer league look, but there's some indications that the Grizzlies drafted a much needed starting center in Zach Edey. That's what we learned Monday night. Did they add (potentially) TWO scorers in Jaylen Wells from Washington State and Cam Spencer from UConn based on what we saw Tuesday night? Ok, it's summer league. Lots of caveats.

Tuesday night (7/9) in the 2024 Utah Summer League game #2 for the Grizzlies on ESPN, Memphis decided to rest Zach Edey after his double-double performance on Monday night. The Grizzlies also rested breakout star GG Jackson, Jake LaRavia, and potential rotation player Scottie Pippen Jr. In their place rookies Jaylen Wells and Cam Spencer stepped up combining for 45 points, including 27 from Wells, as the Grizzlies beat the Philadelphia 76ers 87-85 in Utah summer action.

Wells helped the Grizzlies avoid a second straight "Elam ending" overtime game by dropping in the buzzer beater before time expired.

Former Memphis Tigers guard David Jones played 18 minutes and scored 6 points for the 76ers.

Next up the Memphis Grizzlies (1-1) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (0-1) on Wednesday night (7/10) at 6:00 p.m. live on ESPN+/NBA TV in Salt Lake City. Full coverage on Memphis' Flagship Radio Home of the Grizzlies, 92.9 FM ESPN.
