Late last year, What Now Memphis reported that local Chef Jimmy Sinh , known as ‘Sushi Jimmi,’ was planning a new restaurant, though details were kept under wraps at the time. Now, specifics have emerged.

Recent permits filed with Develop901 reveal that Poke Paradise —a spinoff of Sinh’s popular food truck of the same name—will soon open at 6343 Summer Ave, Suite 110 , in the former site of Izzy and Adam’s. Sinh confirmed this news with What Now Memphis , expressing excitement about his latest venture.

In addition to its namesake poke bowls, Poke Paradise will serve a selection of hot side dishes such as noodles, rice plates, and sandwiches. Retro favorites like kimchi fries and jalapeño poppers will also return. The restaurant will operate as a BYOB establishment and include a kids’ menu, as well as a “huge selection” of bottled beverages.

Sinh is no stranger to the restaurant industry. In addition to his food truck and upcoming eatery, the chef previously owned the popular Sushi Jimmi Asian Fusion restaurant on Poplar Ave, which closed in 2019 after he experienced burnout.

But he’s ready to make a comeback. Eager to return to brick-and-mortar dining, Sinh commented, “It’s consistent, and I can cook more for my customers.”

Originally planned for Cordova, Poke Paradise moved to the Summer Ave space due to unforeseen circumstances. When he found the new site, however, Sinh felt blessed. “God just gave me the opportunity,” he stated.

Following the restaurant’s opening, Sinh will discontinue the food truck and focus on dine-in, catering, and private dining services. While an exact opening date is pending final touches and inspections, Sinh hopes to launch Poke Paradise within the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, be sure to support the Poke Paradise food truck at its final events and at the Asian Night Market food festival next Saturday, July 27, 2024, where Sinh will debut some of the restaurant’s offerings.
