    Two men, female juveniles in custody after carjacking

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say two men were arrested, and two female juveniles were taken into custody in connection to a carjacking in the middle of the afternoon in a Berclair neighborhood.

    Gean Plata-Amador, 24, and Christian Briano, 18, are both charged with carjacking and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

    Arrest made in Whitehaven gas station carjacking

    The carjacking victim told investigators she was stopped near the intersection of Berclair and Lawrence last Thursday when a man got out of a black Chevy pickup truck with an assault rifle and forced her out of her car.

    Police said victim was carjacked at Berclair and Lawrence in the middle of the afternoon.

    MPD said on Monday, officers spotted a black Chevy truck parked in front of a house in the 4500 block of Tutwiler and saw the victim’s Honda Civic parked behind a nearby apartment complex on Powell in Berclair.

    Police said a man and two others got into the Honda and ran from officers. They said the driver, later identified as Plata-Armador, bailed out of the car in the 800 block of Angelina Place and was located by a police K9 unit.

    Police said there were two female juveniles and an assault rifle inside the Honda.

    Investigators said Briano was arrested at the Tutwiler address and told them he was the driver of the black Chevy pickup during the carjacking. They said Plata-Amador was identified by the victim and admitted to being armed with a rifle when he demanded she get out of her car.

    Briano is being held on a $100,000 bond. Plata-Amador was also charged with reckless driving and evading arrest, and his bond was set at $156,000. Both are set to appear in court on Wednesday.
