Danyell Craft, 42, is charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle $10,000-$60,000, two counts of Motor Vehicle Burglary, Theft of Property $1,000-$2,500, Fraudulent use of six counts of Credit/Debit Card $1,000 or Less, and six counts of Identity Theft.

On June 25, a woman’s rented Mitsubishi Outlander was stolen from the Sheraton Hotel on Main Street. She told police she left the car running in a valet’s custody, and a man who was loitering, later identified as Craft, took it.
On June 30, a woman was at Sam’s Club on Covington Pike when Craft allegedly told her that her front tire was going flat. When she got out of her car to take a look, Craft reached inside her car and took her purse, police say.
Her purse contained a Capital One card, earbuds, two bracelets, a Hyundai key fob, and prescription glasses. The items totaled at $1,195. Craft allegedly attempted to use her card at a supermarket for $506.95.
On July 3, a woman was at a supermarket when Craft told her that her tire was going flat and he could help, according to MPD. When she got out of her vehicle, he allegedly took her purse and fled the scene in a gray Mitsubishi SUV.
Police say the woman’s purse contained an Apple iPhone, cash, reading glasses, a Citi Bank credit card, and a Lowe’s credit card. The items added up to around $830.
Craft successfully charged her credit card for nearly $500 at a Frayser liquor store and at a food market, police say.
On July 9, a man pulled up to The Hampton on Peabody Place and handed his keys to Craft, who was allegedly pretending to be a valet attendant. After the man took his bags out, Craft drove off in the 2022 black Chrysler 300 TX.
On July 10, a woman told police that Craft helped her take her groceries to the car on Summer Avenue. Records state that Craft stole her purse which contained $48 in cash and a flip phone from the back seat. He drove off in a 2022 Chrysler 300, police say.
A week later, police found the stolen car in a North Memphis neighborhood with Craft walking nearby. He was arrested on the scene.
Police say many of the robberies were caught on camera.
Danyell Craft was positively identified by the victims and is set to appear in court on Thursday morning.
