MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police say a man walked out of a store with more than $1,000 in laundry detergent and cleaning products, then fired two shots as he made a getaway.

The theft happened at 5:30 Saturday afternoon at the Dollar General in the 2400 block of Elvis Presley Boulevard.

A man in a pink hat and tank top walked in the store and stocked up a cart with detergent and cleaners, then left through a rear exit without paying. He then loaded the merchandise into a black sedan driven by a second man.

When someone looked out a side door, police say the first man shot at them. They then drove away westbound on Alcy Road.
