Customers may be waiting a little longer for incoming FedEx packages due to a global tech outage.
On Friday, FedEx initiated contingency plans to alleviate some of the impacts caused by "a global IT outage experienced by a third party software vendor." However, the company said commitment deliveries scheduled for Friday, July 19, may be delayed, according to a service alert from the company.
FedEx is recommending customers continue to check the service alerts webpage for updates. Additional information regarding the shipment status and tracking can be found on the company's website and its FedEx Delivery manager portal. According to the service alert, delayed shipments caused by the outage will not be eligible for refund or credit.
FedEx representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding how the outage has impacted the company, including flights and operations at its hub at Memphis International Airport.
